Mix Review

Upload each version of your mix and send one link. Your client clicks the exact moment, says what to change, compares versions at matched loudness and approves - no more “the guitar at 2:13” e-mail threads.

How it works

Two sides, five steps each. The engineer uploads and shares; the client only opens a link.

Show the steps for
  1. 1

    Drop your mixes

Drop the new mix and the one before, and listen right away. Sign in (free) to upload them and get the link.

Start a review with two mixes of Midnight Drive dropped, a waveform preview, the song title and client Maya, and Sign in and upload.
  2. 2

    Send the link

Copy the link and send it any way you like. Each version shows its length and loudness.

The review page of Midnight Drive for Maya: the client link with Copy link, and versions v1 and v2 with their length and LUFS.
  3. 3

Read the notes on the waveform

The client's notes appear as markers on the version they are about. Compare A/B at matched loudness and reply.

v1 and v2 compared A/B with matched loudness, two comment markers on the waveform, and Maya's notes at 01:02 and 01:28-01:44.
  4. 4

Upload the fix as the next version

Drop v3. It is checked, measured and uploaded, and your client hears it next to the last one.

The versions list with v3 added and its upload done, under v1 and v2.
  5. 5

    Get the approval

You see who approved which exact file, right in the versions list.

Versions v1 to v3, with v3 approved by Maya.
  1. 1

Open the link - no account

Play the new mix and switch between A and B. Both play at the same loudness, so you judge the mix, not the volume.

The review of Midnight Drive on a phone: A/B version pickers, the waveform, play, the A/B switch and the matched-loudness note.
  2. 2

Comment at a moment or a range

Tap Comment at the playhead, or Start range and End range for a whole section. Add a tag if it helps.

A note over 01:28-01:44 on v2 with the tag Vocals louder, ready to post.
  3. 3

    See the answers

The engineer replies under each note. Reply back, or mark it resolved.

Two notes, each with the engineer Leo's reply under it.
  4. 4

    Approve the version you like

Type your name to approve exactly this file. Open notes are counted first.

The Approve v3? dialog: the version, its file fingerprint, 0 open comments and the name Maya.
  5. 5

    Done

The engineer sees your approval right away. Changed your mind? Withdraw it.

Maya approved v3, with Withdraw my approval.

Why a loudness-matched A/B matters

When two versions differ in level, the louder one almost always sounds better - even when it is the worse mix. Mix Review measures what listeners actually hear (BS.1770 integrated loudness of the preview) and turns the louder version down to the quieter one while you switch, never boosting anything and keeping true-peak headroom. It also shows the raw difference, so nobody is fooled either way.

Both versions play on the same clock and switching only changes their gain, so A and B change instantly at the same spot in the song. Comments always stay on the version they were made on; clicking one plays from there.

Approval is a named confirmation bound to the exact file (its SHA-256 fingerprint): the next version never inherits it, and it is clearly labelled as not identity-verified. Links can be turned off at any time, and the original files stay private - clients only stream a compressed preview.

Frequently asked questions

Does my client need an account?

No. Clients open the link, type a name once and can comment, reply and approve. Only you (the engineer) sign in, because the files are stored in your account.

What does “loudness-matched A/B” do?

It measures both versions and plays the louder one quieter by the difference, so you compare the mix, not the volume. It only ever turns down, keeps true-peak headroom and switches itself off for silent or very short files.

How binding is an approval?

It records the name the client typed, the time and the exact file (version and SHA-256 fingerprint). The name is not verified, and the page says so. A newer version needs its own approval.

Who can hear my mixes?

Anyone with the link can listen and comment, so share it with the right people and turn it off when you are done. Original files are never handed out - listeners stream a compressed preview through TuttiDAW, which stops the moment you turn the link off. Listening in a browser cannot prevent recording.

Which files can I upload?

WAV and MP3 stereo mixes up to 10 minutes and 200 MB. For other formats, export a WAV or MP3 from your DAW or converter first.

How long are reviews kept?

Until you delete them. Uploads count toward your cloud storage (2 GB on the Free plan, more on Pro and Premium). Deleting a review, or your account, removes its files, comments and approvals.
