FM Arp: Repeat, Up+8 and Walk Patterns from Held Notes
FM Arp is a compact arpeggiator with three patterns the standard Arpeggiator does not have. Repeat restrikes the most recent held note, Up+8 climbs the held notes and adds the lowest one an octave up, and Walk steps randomly up or down the same list.
Hear the extra octave on top
Climb four triads with Up+8 in eighth notes
The phrase holds four triads for 1600 ms each. With Up+8 at 1/8 and Gate 50%, the first chord plays 48, 52, 55 and then 60 - its lowest note an octave higher - before it starts again: seven attacks 250 ms apart, each 125 ms long, the last one shortened to 100 ms where the chord ends.
Octaves widens the list before the extra note: at 2 the run climbs through both octaves and the top note lands two octaves above the lowest. Order chooses whether the list follows pitch (Note) or the order the keys were pressed (Played).
Repeat, chance and swing
Turn each chord into a random ratchet roll with Repeat
Repeat ignores the other held notes and restrikes the latest one. At 1/32 the steps are 62.5 ms apart; Chance 80 lets a step sound with probability 81/128, so 17 of the first chord's 26 steps play and the rest stay silent, an uneven roll. The draws are seeded per phrase, so playback repeats exactly.
Swing delays every other step by up to 40% of a step. Walk moves one place up or down the list at each step, so a random line moves between neighbouring notes instead of jumping. Unlike the Arpeggiator's Gate, FM Arp's Gate stops at 100%, so its steps never overlap.
